It All Started With Our Daughter

When our daughter took her very first golf lesson, she fell completely in love with the game. Watching her face light up when she got the ball airborne made us realize something magical: golf is one of the rare sports on earth where an entire family can truly play together.

In a world full of smartphones and digital distractions, the golf course became our family's sanctuary—a place where parents and kids could walk outside in the fresh air, laugh at our terrible shots, and bond for hours without a single screen in sight. Before long, my wife and I bought our own clubs, and golf quickly became our favorite family sport.

The Lessons Along Our Journey

Of course, starting out as everyday beginners wasn't always smooth sailing. We quickly ran into the same frustrating traps most new golfers face. We wasted money overspending on gear we didn't understand, bought adult clubs that were far too heavy for our swing speeds, and felt lost navigating course rules.

Paying Kindness Forward

Luckily, we discovered that the golf community is one of the most generous communities in the world. Whenever we struggled at the driving range or asked questions online, experienced golfers stepped up to share their favorite drills, explain equipment sizing, and offer encouraging words.

We created SetupToSwing simply to pay that kindness forward. Our goal is to document our family’s ongoing journey, share the honest shortcuts and budget-friendly gear lessons we’ve learned, and help more beginners skip the intimidation. We want to pass the pure joy of golf along to as many families as possible.
